Comet C/2011 L4 (PANSTARRS) is a non-periodic, long-period comet discovered in June 2011 by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope in Hawaii. It reached perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) on March 10, 2013, becoming a prominent naked-eye object in the western sky for both hemispheres during March and April 2013.
