M 91 (NGC 4548) is a barred spiral galaxy that is found in the south of Coma Berenices. The orientation of the galaxy is face-on to an observer on Earth, making its thick central bar and distinct spiral arms clearly visible and has a linear diameter of 100,000 light years. Located 60 million light-years from Earth it is one of the faintest objects in Messier's catalogue. M91 is one of over a thousand galaxies that make up the Virgo cluster, a group of galaxies that are gravitationally bound to one another. Like our own galaxy, M91 contains a supermassive black hole at its centre. Apparent magnitude 11.0. NGC 4571 is a spiral galaxy, seen face-on, located in the constellation of Coma Berenices, about 60 million light years from Earth. It is part of the Virgo cluster. Apparent magnitude 11.8.
