NGC 2070 Tarantula Nebula is a large H II region in the Large Magellanic Cloud situated at a distance of about 160,000 light-years. It visible to the unaided eye under dark skies and a spectacular target for binoculars. It is highly luminous and if it were as close to Earth as the Orion Nebula, it would cover 30⁰ of the sky, an area equal to 60 full moons, and would cast visible shadows. Hidden deep within C103"s central star cluster, R136, is R136a1, the most massive and luminous star known to science. It is roughly 200 times the mass of our Sun and radiates with the power of nearly nine million Suns. Integrated apparent magnitude 4.0.
